Lennoxtown Library Talks: Hugh Gaffney AUCHENGEICH Gone but Not Forgotten

Former MP and Trade Unionist Hugh Gaffney`s new book gives a fresh insight into The Auchengeich mining disaster. The tragedy that occurred on September 18, 1959, at the Auchengeich Colliery in Moodiesburn. His fresh look at what was the worst mining accident in Scotland during the 20th century the lasting devastating impact on the community. Hugh will do more than focus on the underground fire that, trapped and killed 47 miners. The book also talks to some of the 76 children left without a father and their lives after the tragedy, along with the community spirit that continues today.
