Ladies and gentlemen, prepare yourselves for the triumphant return of Lenny Beige — crooner, cabaret king, and raconteur of the highest order. Once hailed as the hardest working man in light entertainment, Beige has strutted stages from Hunstanton to Hollywood, from Lowestoft to Las Vegas. He’s hosted television specials, introduced stars you’ve long forgotten, and even run the cultural affairs of Ipswich (when Lionel Blair was mayor, naturally).
Lenny insists he cut his teeth along the East Anglian Riviera, playing pier ballrooms and summer theatres before the bright lights of London came calling. Whether you believe every tale is up to you — but for one night only, Norwich will be bathed in Beige’s unique glow. Expect velvet vocals, scandalous stories, and the kind of showbiz sparkle you can’t find in the shops.
And why The Last Rolo? Because this finale is our nod to Norwich’s chocolate heritage. The very first Rolo was invented and produced at the city’s Chapelfield Works in 1937. Later, the line “Do you love anyone enough to give them your last Rolo?” gave it a place in national culture. For Norwich, the last Rolo is more than a chocolate — it’s part of the city’s story.
The evening will take place upstairs at The Walnut Tree Shades, newly under the stewardship of Lou Whilding. Lou has a well-earned reputation for transforming every pub she runs into a thriving hub of atmosphere, music and community. We’re thrilled that she has brought her energy and vision to the Shades, and grateful for her support in hosting this special night where chocolate, creativity and conversation come together.
