Event description
Join Catherine Stevenson as she gets to know Leonardo Da Vinci; what inspired him, his learning interests and what he taught us.

About this Event

Imagine if Leo joined your local u3a... What would he be interested in learning and what might he teach you? Why did he learn? How did he express his learning? What inspired him?

To answer these questions Catherine Stevenson, Chair of Newcastle u3a, will explore relevant references to the historical background of his life and works, delving into Da Vinci's skills and talents - illustrated by some of his inventions and anatomical diagrams.

Catherine will then present 3 of his most famous paintings for reflection and brief analysis, to gain further insight into his genius.

Finally, bringing together various aspects of Leonardo's life and works, we will consider what he might have been like as a u3a member!

About Catherine

Catherine is Chair and Office Manager of Newcastle u3a. A group leader to several interest groups; Talking About Art, General History and Astronomy. Catherine has delivered regional u3a study days at the Laing Art Gallery and 6 workshops at u3a National Conferences.

She is a volunteer for Tyne and Wear Museums, often based at the Laing Art Gallery where she is a tour guide. She has also volunteered at the Great North Museum.

Art and history blend together with several other subjects to provide a myriad of excellent learning opportunities for our u3a members.
