About this event

Join the Friends of Lesnes Abbey and Woods for a guided walk through these ancient woodlands.

A circular route with some steady climbs on well-trodden paths takes us on a journey of discovery.

Seasonal Notes: February and Early March - See the abundance of wild daffodils creating a carpet of yellow. Late March and April - Enjoy the deep green and blue of native English bluebells filling the gaps between the trees.

Travel back in time 55 million years and meet ‘Claude’, and try your hand at finding seashells and sharks teeth.

Find out what the Romans did for the woods, and their continuing legacy.

Walk through peaceful nature enjoying the bounty of the season.

Discover sculptures by nature and sculptures by man, against the backdrop of ever changing scenery.

Immerse yourself in the woodlands for this hour walk, and refresh your mind and body.

This tour is currently free, but if the high number of people reserving a place and not turning up continues, this will have to change. if you enjoy it and wish to show your appreciation then donations to the Friends of Lesnes Abbey and Woods are warmly received. Meet your host by Chestnut's Cafe at least 5 minutes before the scheduled start time.

Wear shoes suitable for walking on uneven ground. We recommend that you also bring some water to drink and waterproof clothing if there is a chance of rain. There is a total ascent of around 50 meters in altitude, avoiding steep paths. We will always endeavour to run the tour as scheduled, but since this is an outdoor event excessive rain or wind may mean that we have to cancel for reasons of safety and enjoyment!

Please note that there is limited space to stop during this walk and it is restricted to 10 people. Those who have reserved a ticket and bring their ticket will have priority over those turning up on the day. If you book and cannot then make the walk, please cancel at least two hours before the event is due to start.
