About this event

Travel & Outdoor • Other

A walk around Stoke Park with Steve England, learning about the trees, plants and wildlife that appears at this time of year throughout the different habitats we encounter.

On this circular walk, we will take a look at our local wildlife, learn the interesting facts about its birds, mammals, critters and creatures. We will learn all about the plants & flowers, hedgerows, field species & trees that make up our estate, and maybe have some practical plants knowledge, hedgerow snacks and creative tree uses thrown in along the way! Local conservationist, Steve England will be leading this wonderful walk, finding wildlife as we go and sharing his fantastic wildlife knowledge with you all.

This walk will be a shorter route than the usual event walks, taking a circular route around the upper woodlands and will include more rest breaks! Please note there will still be some walking involved but we aim for this to be at a slower pace to allow for a wider range of abilities.

All ages welcome. Please note content is not specifically aimed at children and some walking will be involved both along the Stoke Park path, across the fields and within the woodland.

Please dress according to the weather and wear sturdy footwear. Bring binoculars, notepad and pen and a drink for the walk!

We will meet by the Vench Adventure Playground, Romney Avenue, at 10:25am.

The Stoke Park Project - what is it and why is my place funded?

The Stoke Park Project is a partnership between Bristol City Council, Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust and Steve England Outdoor Learning that aims to connect with communities and users of Stoke Park Estate to find out priorities for the future of the estate, in particular the protection and improvement of historical assets.

This event is fully funded for you to attend but we ask for you to fill out the brief survey in return for your funded spot - it takes just a couple of minutes and will help shape the future of the parkland. You can fill out the survey here, and you will also receive this via email after the event. Please note this survey is hosted by Bristol City Council.

We request for any one individual to only book ONE funded space if possible throughout the programme please.

Cancellation/Postponing due to Poor Weather

SE Outdoor Learning events take place outdoors, and therefore unfortunately may need to be postponed or cancelled in the days leading up to the event if it seems that the weather will be too poor for it to be run safely. We will always aim to confirm cancellation of the event 24 - 48 hours in advance (though on very rare occassions, sudden weather changes may mean its closer than this). Please keep an eye on your emails and Facebook for information regarding this. If you cannot make the postponed date, please request a refund and we will be able to issue this for you asap.
