Let the Kid Play is a film about the birth and evolution of cinema in the Ottoman era, focusing on the spread of cinematic technology, from the 1890s into the 20th century. Featuring new documents and rarely seen stills, Let the Kid Play illuminates this moment of cinema history and poses new questions for cinema enthusiasts to ponder.

ATALAY TAŞDİKEN

Atalay Taşdiken was born in the Beyşehir district of Konya in 1964. He graduated from the Department of Physics at Selçuk University. Taşdiken, having worked in the advertising industry for a long time. His debut film Mommo (2009) have been premiered at important festivals and received numerous awards. He sat in the director’s chair once again for his film Meryem (2013). Also a television producer and director, Taşdiken produced the recent series Küçük Hanımefendi (2011) and Böyle Bitmesin (2012). He directed the movie named Arama Motoru (The Search Engine) in 2015.

HACI MEHMET DURANOĞLU

He was born in Osmaniye, in 1980. He graduated from Radio, Television and Cinema Department of Selçuk University. He undertook various positions in a number of TV documentaries between 2002 and 2009. He is doing his masters in Radio, Television and Cinema department of Selçuk University.



The London Turkish Film Week is back for a second year between April 24th and 30th with a raft of talented film-makers, actors and more.

All films will be screened with English subtitles.
