Have you ever found yourself working somewhere where the people, processes and technology are not set up to truly support or empower user-centred approaches? Have you become an accidental change-maker, regardless of your job title? Join us for an inclusive, facilitated discussion how learning from tools and approaches from different disciplines can enhance your practice. We'll use the 1-2-4-All facilitation technique from Liberating Structures to make sure everyone's voice is heard, and we all have a chance to listen and learn from each other.
Even if you're not naturally drawn to discussions, or consider yourself an introvert, we think you'll enjoy the methods we use to make sure everyone's thoughts are shared in an engaging and thoughtful way. And whether you're brand new to UX or a seasoned professional, our facilitation means there'll be democratic participation, so everyone's perspective is as valid as anyone else's.
We’re really looking forward to what promises to be a friendly, thoughtful and inspiring evening of discussion and shared learning. Huge thanks to Hedgehog Lab for kindly sponsoring the event and providing their venue, food and drinks.
It’s free to attend and open to everyone – whether you're deep into a UX career or just curious about getting started. We’d love to see you there!
Speakers:Emily Allinson. Emily is Head of User Centred Design at Opencast Software, an independent UK technology consultancy working at the heart of government, healthcare and business to make a positive difference to people’s lives. Before moving into a design leadership role, Emily worked in Content Design and Content Strategy across a variety of roles and sectors. In all of these roles, what became clear was that to create the right conditions for user centred content, this often meant drawing on tools and techniques wider than content in order to influence organisation change.
Clare Brown. Clare is a Senior Interaction Designer at Opencast Software with over six years of experience designing user-centred services across government and private sectors. As a mid-career switcher herself, she’s passionate about sharing knowledge to support others looking to break into user-centred design - especially those from under-represented backgrounds in the industry.
