Event description

Description

How can we end loneliness in our communities?

1 in 6 older people in Somerset say that they often feel lonely
Loneliness increases the risk of ill-health and delays recovery time
Lonely people are more likely to smoke, drink alcohol and have poor diets
Loneliness is linked to depression and suicidal behaviours

Join us to learn more about the effects of loneliness. Hear from local and national projects already working successfully to address the issue. The event is aimed at anyone concerned with this important issue including health and social care providers; voluntary and community groups; town, parish and district councils.

Speakers from:

Campaign to End Loneliness
Somerset Public Health
Somerset Community Foundation
Ageing Well Torbay
Westbank
2BU

Facilitated workshops

Share good practice, network, identify practical ways to address the issue and provide support in our communities.

Places for this event will be limited, so please book your free ticket in advance. Refreshments will be provided. Full details, including an agenda will be sent prior to the event.

This event has been organised in partnership with South Somerset District Council and Somerset Public Health and is supported by Somerset Community Foundation.
