Let's Get Together Social Stroll - September 2025

Wednesday 24 September, 11am-12.45pm

Meet in Town Hall Square, off Horsefair Street (close to the Bike Park).

Allow between 1 hour 45 minutes - 2 hours for the social activity and walk.

Around 1.5 miles. Steady pace. Accessible.

Our social strolls provide a short, friendly group walk through Leicester and an opportunity to socialise at a public building. It's a chance to visit a free event as part of a relaxed, informal group. This month, our social and walk will have a family history theme. We'll first head to a local venue for our fun social quiz, then we'll head out on a short city stroll discovering places connected with renowned Leicester families, and uncover a few 'history gems' about them. We'll finish with a free short visit to the Leicestershire and Rutland Family History Society, where a member of their team will explain a little about the services available. If you've ever considered exploring your own family tree, this is a great place to find out more. Please bring your own soft drinks to the social.

Booking

Walks are free to attend but please book as numbers are limited. Book via Eventbrite or phone 0116 373 7589 (phone line is Monday to Friday, 9am-5.30pm, not at weekends or bank holidays).

If you are no longer able to attend, please cancel via Eventbrite or contact us by phone during office hours so we can allow others the opportunity to attend.

New Walkers

If you have not walked with Leicester City Council before we will ask you to complete our Walker Registration form in advance of the walk. online or by phone. You will receive an email with a link to the online form in the days leading up to the event. You only need to do this once and can attend any of our walks thereafter (subject to booking a place on Eventbrite).

Dress for the weather

Remember to dress appropriately for the weather. Our group walks will go ahead in most weather. You will not need any special clothing or equipment. We recommend the following:

• Comfortable sturdy footwear

• Bring a raincoat or umbrella in case of rain

• On cooler days wear appropriate layers (hat, scarf, gloves) and a coat/jacket. On warmer days a hat and sunscreen are recommended.

• Please bring a bottle of water with you, especially during the warmer months.

Group size

Please book your place – this helps us to keep our group sizes manageable.
