About the Course

This is a six-week course starting on Tueday 3rd June taking place every Tuesdays until 8th July from 10:30am to 12pm. It is designed to help participants explore nature through mobile photography while experiencing and appreciating the rich heritage of the canal. Photography is the creative medium, but the core focus is on encouraging people to engage with their local waterways—walking along the canal, discovering its wildlife, understanding its history, and giving back by documenting its beauty through images.

Each session will combine technical photography skills with creative exploration, inspiring participants to see the canal in a new light, whether through reflections in the water, textures of old towpaths, or the wildlife that thrives along its banks. Participants will learn how to effectively use their mobile phone cameras, experiment with composition and lighting, and edit their images to create visually compelling work.

Week 1: Getting Started with Mobile Photography & Exploring the Canal

Week 2: Composition and Framing Along the Canal

Week 3: Understanding Light and Shadows on the Water

Week 4: Capturing Details – Macro and Close-up Photography in Nature

Week 5: Editing and Enhancing Your Canal & Nature Photos
