Description

King's College London, African Caribbean Medical Association invites you to:

"Let's Talk About... Black Women and Breast Cancer"

The Inaugural BAME Breast Cancer Conference and Exhibition

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

ACMA at KCL wants you to know the facts, hear the stories & get involved with breast health. Our one-day event includes sessions on risk factors, signs and symptoms of breast cancer and how to perform self-examination. Learn what treatment and support is available to you and loved ones who may have breast cancer.

Join us as we listen to the experiences of survivors, dispel commonly held beliefs and take part in an interactive breakout session on examinations, survivorship and living with Breast Cancer.

This day is for the general public as well as those in the medical profession.

- For students, learn the important facts about screening, treatment and prognosis. See breast cancer through the eyes of our survivors and attend 2 sessions aimed at improving your OSCE skills: Breast Examination and Communication (Breaking Bad News)

- For Healthcare Professionals, attend breakout sessions where we address the latest advances in breast cancer care and workshop ideas to promote breast cancer awareness amongst minorities

We want this day to be fully interactive and there will a lot of opportunities to ask the professionals questions and have your say.

Finally, there will be a round table discussion with our speakers on strategies to improve breast cancer outcomes for black women.

The fantastic speakers we have lined up include:

Our key note speaker Ms. Heather Nelson: CEO of Black Health Initiative (BHI) Leeds and National Director of BME Cancer Voice

Ms Leanne Pero and Ms Della Ogunleye: Breast Cancer Survivors

Miss Georgette Oni: Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive and Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon (Nottingham Breast Institute)

Dr Angela Esiwe: GP with a specialist interest in women’s health (Grantham)

Mrs Sarah Adomah: Breast Cancer Nurse Specialist (Royal Marsden Hospital)
