Event description

Description

What did you learn at medical school? How to treat disease and save lives? What about all those lives you can’t save?

One third of patients admitted to Scottish hospitals will die within the next 12 months. One tenth will die on this admission.

Have you ever thought about how this may affect you?

Aimed at medical students and foundation doctors, this is a frank discussion from 2 core trainees around death and dying; how it may affect you and what to do about it!

Feedback from previous sessions:

‘Very genuine, real and relevant.’

‘Honest and open discussion.. an otherwise ignored topic..’

‘A really useful topic which has filled a major gap in the curriculum’

‘An invaluable experience’

About the speakers: Dr Alex Stirzaker and Dr Ailsa Oswald are core medical trainees in NHS Lothian with interest and experience in geriatrics and palliative care respectively.
