Let's Talk About Reasoning
Overview
Join Lynwen for a practical and inspiring professional learning session all about mathematical reasoning — what it is, why it matters, and how we can confidently develop it in the primary classroom.
Why attend?
Mathematical reasoning plays a key role in helping learners make sense of maths, communicate their thinking, and become independent problem solvers. In this session, we’ll break down what reasoning looks like in practice and give you ready-to-use strategies you can apply straight away.
In this session, we will explore:
• How to use and develop the language of reasoning with pupils
• Practical ways to create opportunities for learners to reason confidently
• Why reasoning is essential to deep mathematical understanding
• Classroom-friendly ideas, examples, and top tips you can use tomorrow.
Who should attend?
This session is suitable for all primary teachers — whether you’re new to teaching reasoning or looking to refresh your practice with fresh, practical ideas.
What you’ll take away:
• A clearer understanding of mathematical reasoning in action
• Strategies to boost reasoning skills in your learners
• Practical activities you can implement with confidence
