Event description

Description

OPEN TO GCU STUDENTS ONLY
Glasgow Caledonian University, Glasgow University and Rape Crisis Scotland have been working in collaboration to create these workshops about Sexual Violence. The sessions are delivered by students for students and we are strongly encouraging all GCU students to come along to one of the sessions.

Sexual violence affects people in all walks of life, including in university. As students, you have the right to be safe, and the purpose of these sessions is to start an open and honest conversation so that we can be part of the solution.

The session will include the following content:

  • Audio recording of an interview with a woman who was raped while she was studying at university: how she was affected in terms of the psychological effects, friendships , and the impact on her education.

  • Why do we say ‘survivor’ instead of ‘victim’?

  • Consent: young people often say this is missing from education. We’re going to talk about what it means and how we practice it.

  • Helping to prevent violence: what can we do to help if we see something we’re not comfortable with? Are there ways we can safely intervene?
