Let's Talk Product - Telling Engaging Product Stories – ONLINE MEETUP
Event Information
About this Event
As long as there have been people, there have been storytellers. And who doesn't love a good story? A great narrative can be instrumental in driving a wild idea; a high-level concept; a vision for the future. Stories are as much for the audience as they are for the storytellers; and the latter are far from limited to novelists, playwrights and journalists.
In the latest edition of Let's Talk Product from Kainos, we'll be delving into how we can, and why we should tell engaging stories with our products. You'll hear from a range of speakers, both internally and externally. From the financial sector to data and AI, and those involved in government delivery.
We'll be tapping into the stories we have told to drive our business and underpin our products. You'll hear from raconteur product managers, business development directors and service designers, on the success they have had in applying narrative to products and services.
Join the discussion! In our Q&A panel, you'll have the chance to add to the conversation. We can't wait to hear your own story at Let's Talk Product: Telling Engaging Product Stories.
Our speaker lineup:
Matthew Horsham - Business Development Director, Kainos
- Getting the story straight.
Sales is about communication.
Communication is about telling stories – humans put narratives over everything. We give certain conversations special priority – and in fact, need to remind ourselves that all conversations deserve thought. But... we cannot meticulously plan every conversation!
So, we need to tell stories about telling stories – the way we talk about ourselves, to ourselves will embed itself, and this will be the way we talk about ourselves to others.
Therefore, we need to get our story straight!
Lee Johnston - Data and AI Business Development, Kainos
- Green London: Using data to optimise new electrical charging point locations in London.
London aims to be a zero-carbon city by 2050. Learn how we worked in partnership with London First and Microsoft to develop a data-sharing pilot that demonstrates the impact of insights from public-private data-sharing, and how we helped identify and optimise locations for new electrical charging points across London.
Sophie Smithwell - User Centered Service Designer, Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs
- Designing for blind dinosaurs with sausage fingers.
Remember those green forms you were given with your result at the end of a driving test? Now imagine telling 2,000 Driving Examiners that a relatively unchanged, 85-year-old, paper-based marking process was going to rapidly evolve into a digital proposition.
How do you bring users with low digital confidence along on a tech transformation journey?
In this talk I’ll share:
- The extent of the challenge
- How to win hearts and minds through continuous user engagement and extensive research
- How co-creation can develop great user experiences
Be prepared to ask our speakers anything in the Q&A portion of the evening!
