Event Description:

Let's Walk - Banbury

7pm Friday 31st October 2025

Duration: 1.2 miles, 90 minutes

Start point: Meet outside Whately Hall Hotel, Horsefair, Banbury OX16 0AN. 6.45pm for 7pm set off ///rainy.second.organ

The walk, run by Canal & River Trust, will be led by volunteer walk leaders who are full of interesting information about the local area.

Please join us for a fun leisurely walk along the canal. You'll learn a lot and meet new people!

Come and join us in Banbury Old Town and along the Oxford Canal to hear about ghostly goings on from mediaeval times right up to the present day.

The pace will be leisurely, with several pauses to hear the tales. The route is suitable for wheelchairs / pushchairs. Well behaved dogs are welcome (on a lead).

Start from Whately Hall Hotel, Horsefair, Banbury and end at Ye Olde Reindeer Inn, Parsons Street where there is opportunity to purchase refreshments.

Most Car Parks are FREE after 6pm and the walk is easy to reach from bus or train stations.

Toilets available at end of the route.

The great thing about walking is that you do not need any fancy equipment. Please just wear comfortable shoes and bring a jacket if raining. However with all the fallen leaves the tow path (even if it is not raining) it can be muddy/slippy so stout shoes are really required (stronger than recommended).

Book now

Please book one time slot per person. Please arrive no more than 15 minutes before your booked slot. These sessions are designed for adults and for children from seven years old upwards as an introduction to walking and are easy grade along our amazing towpaths. Learn a bit of history or see some awesome wildlife which is around every turn on our waterways .

Parents and Guardians are required to accompany their children on this walk.

If you can no longer attend, please cancel your ticket via Eventbrite or please get in touch with us to allow another person(s) a chance to take part. Social distancing measures will be in place and all equipment will be cleaned in between sessions.
