About this Event

Get active and enjoy walking by exploring our local Waterways on this free 2.5 hour guided walk. We will start and finish outside the Waterways Museum in Gloucester docks.

On the 5 mile circular route we will walk through the docks onto the Alney Island nature reserve and go to Over Basin to explore part of a restored section of the Herefordshire and Gloucestershire Canal. We will then walk alongside the river Severn on our return route to the Waterways Museum.

The route follows recognised footpaths with some uneven surfaces in sections.

It’s an opportunity to meet people so come along on your own or bring a friend or family and stay for a tea or coffee afterwards if you can.

We welcome well behaved dogs on a lead. Please wear comfortable shoes, with weather appropriate clothing and bring a bottle of water. Please let us know if you have any requirements or concerns.

Book now

Please book one time slot per person. Please arrive no more than 15 minutes before your booked slot. These sessions are suitable for both adults and children, dogs are also welcome as long as they are on a lead. Learn a bit of history or see some awesome wildlife which is around every turn on our waterways .

Parents and Guardians are required to accompany their children on this walk.
