About this Event

Event Description:Let's Walk - Oxford Circular Canalside Walk

Distance: approx. 3.6 km / 2.24 miles Duration: 2 - 2.5 hours approx.(with a refreshment break) Start Time 12 Midday

Start and finish point: Hythe Bridge Entrance to The Oxford Canal, Hythe Bridge Street, Oxford, OX1 2EW (what three words ///pack.boat.scan)

Pace: Leisurely.

The walk, run by the Canal & River Trust, will be led by volunteer walk leaders who are full of interesting information about the local area.

A leisurely afternoon circular walk.

We take the Oxford canal towpath to the Isis bridge and lock where we follow the Sheepwash channel to the Thames riverside path.

A refreshments and toilet break at the The Medley, Oxford, a pop up pub on the Thames river bank.

We cross Port Meadow to Walton Well road where we rejoin the canal towpath back to Hythe bridge.

This is a leisurely walk which allows time to stop and take photos, take in the local wildlife and generally enjoy the well-being effects of being by water.

Please note that the Thames Path and the Oxford canal towpath are level and flat, but there are two hump back bridges to cross. The sheepwash channel towpath passes under the railway with low headroom.

The walk is not suitable for buggies or wheelchairs.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome to join the walk, but must be kept on the lead at all times.

The great thing about walking is that you do not need any fancy equipment. Please just wear comfortable shoes and to bring some water.
