INTRODUCTION:

The awarding body for this qualification is Qualifications Network UK Awarding Body and the regulatory body is the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual).

This qualification is vocationally based and as such, offers the opportunity for learners to demonstrate an achievement of practical skills, understanding and knowledge in the safeguarding of children and young people. The qualification covers current legislation relevant to the safeguarding of children and young people and explores how to recognise and respond to critical incidents, including illness, injury, security events and emergency situations. In addition, the qualification focuses on identifying and responding to evidence or concerns that a child or young person has been abused, harmed or bullied.

This qualification is suitable for learners working, or wishing to work, with children and young people. This includes those in voluntary or unpaid positions.

The qualification covers all of the elements of shorter “awareness” courses but also includes information on what to do with a disclosure and how to protect yourself from allegations.

The qualification will prepare learners for employment in a broad occupational area by developing their knowledge and understanding of the safeguarding of children and young people.

This is the perfect qualification for anyone working with Children and Young People. The qualification covers a range of safeguarding issues not covered in other safeguarding courses or qualifications, including FGM and radicalisation.

QUALIFICATION PURPOSE:

The purpose of this Level 2 Award in Safeguarding and Protecting Children and Young People (RQF) is to provide the learner with the knowledge and understanding in safeguarding children, young people and practitioners in the workplace and how to respond to evidence or concerns that a child or young person has been abused.

Learners who wish to develop the skills and knowledge required for employment in environments/sectors where they are required to have an understanding of the principles of safeguarding or, have a duty of care to children and/or young people.

The Level 2 Award in Safeguarding and Protecting Children and Young People (RQF) aims to provide learners with knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and the protection of children, young people and practitioners in the work place.

The Level 2 Award in Safeguarding and Protecting Children and Young People (RQF) is aimed at those learners who currently work or wish to work with children and young people.

This Safeguarding qualifications is based on the National Occupational Standards within the Children’s Care Learning and Development. It is designed to allow all Candidates working in, or preparing to work in a setting where they have a duty of care to children and young people to gain both the knowledge and understanding necessary to ensure that those in their care are protected from abuse, exploitation, and radicalisation in line with relevant legislation and best practice.

QUALIFICATION OBJECTIVE:

The objective of this qualification is to support a role in the workplace. Learners may be working, or wishing to work, with children and young people. This includes those in voluntary or unpaid roles.

The qualification covers how to safeguard and protect children, young people and practitioners in the workplace as well as how to respond to evidence or concerns that a child or young person has been abused. Children are those aged below 16 and young people are those aged between 16 and 18.

Working Together to Safeguard Children 2015, Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and the Children Act 2004, place duties on a range of organisations to ensure they have regard to the need to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. This includes the need for appropriate safeguarding training, as employers are responsible for ensuring staff are competent to carry out their responsibilities towards the safeguarding of children and young people. This qualification can be used to support the training of employees. Staff undertaking this qualification would meet this requirement.

This is a qualification that indicate an individual can undertake a specific role in the workplace and that may be relied upon by employers.

PRE-REQUISITES:

Certification:

Upon completion of this course, Learners will receive a RQF certificate from QNUK. The qualification is Valid for 3 years. However a annual refresher is strongly recommended.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Unfortunately there are no more free parking facilities around the area as the councils have placed parking restrictions.
