Description

A 3-hour briefing for workers who want to understand more about the purpose and content of the new Domestic Abuse Offence.

Learning outcomes

  • Develop an understanding of what coercive control is and how to identify it
  • Gain a high-level understanding of the new domestic abuse offence
  • Identify types of controlling and coercive behaviour
  • Understand circumstances in which the offence will apply and will not apply
  • Understand possible defences that may be made to the offence
  • Identify behaviours and evidence indicative of the offence

This course is aimed at workers at Level2/ staff group B in the NSAB Competency Framework:

This group have considerable professional and organisational responsibility for safeguarding adults. They have to be able to act on concerns and contribute appropriately to local and national policies, legislation and procedures. This group needs to work within inter or multi-agency contexts.
