Event description

Description

UKGBC is excited to announce an international webinar ‘mini-series’ in partnership with Urban Green Council in New York City - an affiliate of USGBC, as part of our Cities programme.

The webinars will hear from expert speakers from each side of the Atlantic and focus on climate and energy policy in New York and UK cities. We will consider what has worked well, the barriers to take up, and the incentives needed to unlock action, learning from good (and poor) practice in each country.

#1 Comparing codes: regulating efficiency

23rd May 2019, 9.30-10.30am EDT, 2.30-3.30pm GMT

Building design and performance is greatly influenced by energy codes. The structure, enforcement and jurisdiction surrounding these codes can have a huge impact on their effectiveness and on the greenhouse gas emissions from buildings.

Join Urban Green and UKGBC for our first Global Exchanges webinar on energy codes and regulations.

The UK and New York City have different approaches to regulating energy use in new buildings. Experts will discuss how cities can transition to a net zero energy code and share different approaches to enforcement.

Speakers

  • Jo Wheeler, Sustainability Consultant, UKGBC
  • Miles Lewis, Head of Environmental and Social Sustainability, Lendlease UK
  • Michael Tillou, Associate Director, Atelier Ten USA
  • Charles Eley, Consultant, Architecture 2030 Zero Code

CPD: 1 hour
