The Level 3 Award has no teaching or training practice requirement, but does have an assessment requirement of an observed microteaching session.
The Level 3 Award provides the knowledge and understanding of the roles and responsibilities of teachers or trainers related to equality and diversity, legislation and meeting the needs of learners. It covers the planning and delivery of sessions, motivating learners within a learning environment, assessment methods and record-keeping.
There are 3 units to complete:
- Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
- Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
- Understanding the principles and practices of assessment
This course will be assessed via assignment and microteaching sessions. In order to gain the Level 3 credits, around 28 hours of private study will be required to complete all the assignments.
Learners who achieve the Level 3 Award can progress to the Level 4 Certificate through the study of a common mandatory unit.
