Level 3 Award in Mentoring Practice - 1 Unit - Accredited by AIM Qualifications

Our Level 3 Award in Mentoring Practice accredited by AIM Qualifications provides you with the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to support social, emotional, and well-being issues for individuals or small groups. Whether you’re looking to formalise your experience with accredited training or build on your existing mentoring skills, this course is designed to enhance your ability to mentor effectively. It’s ideal for those with no prior experience as well as those wanting to deepen or formalise their current practice. The course is also suitable for those supporting high-risk and complex cases, equipping you with the skills to navigate challenging situations.

This course is structured to give you a comprehensive understanding of the mentoring process, including the application of mentoring theory to practice, effective communication, safeguarding, and goal setting. Delivered through a combination of 24 guided learning hours (in the classroom or online) and independent learning hours, this course includes:

  • Defining Mentoring – Understanding the role of a mentor and how mentoring differs from coaching and counselling
  • The Mentoring Process – Exploring the key stages of the mentoring cycle.
  • Goal Setting in Mentoring – Learning the importance of goal setting in a mentoring relationship and exploring varying methods to suit different individuals.
  • Effective Communication – Developing listening skills, understanding learning styles, and applying communication techniques to support mentees
  • Safeguarding – Gaining a good understanding of the role of safeguarding in a mentoring relationship including recognising the signs of abuse, managing disclosures and navigating confidentiality and boundaries in a mentoring relationship.
  • Applying Mentoring Theory – Discovering the theory behind effective mentoring practice and learning how to integrate traditional and modern mentoring theories into real world mentoring relationships.
  • Tailoring a Mentoring Programme – Planning and delivering an effective mentoring programme considering each stage of the mentoring cycle and meeting individual mentee needs.

This course requires learners to have a good level of English to independently read and research material. There are also a number of independent learning assessments throughout the course designed to assess your ability to apply what you’ve learned to real-world mentoring scenarios.

By the end of this course, you will have gained the knowledge and practical skills to mentor effectively, setting clear goals and supporting your mentees through various stages of development.

Please note: for online courses learners must also be confident in the use of IT and have access to a laptop with a functional microphone, camera and word processing software.
