First aid is not only a requirement in many workplaces and volunteering organisations, it is also accepted as a life skill; something everyone should learn.

This qualification specification outlines the key information related to the QNUK Level 3 Award in Paediatric First aid (RQF).

This qualification is intended for those working in early years settings that require a paediatric first aid qualification. This course meets the Department for Education requirements.

This qualification is aimed at those working in an early years setting who require a paediatric first aid qualification to meet the early years foundation stage requirements.

The QNUK Level 3 Award in Paediatric First aid (RQF) is seen as the most common qualification for early years practitioners.

It is ideal for any early years practitioners requiring a paediatric first aid qualification, as outlined in the EYFS.

The qualification is particularly useful. For example: Childminders, School staff and Nurseries.

Qualification purpose

This qualification provides the knowledge and skills for first aiders working in early years environments.

Learners will gain the knowledge, skills and understanding of paediatric first aid as outlined by the Department of Education, September 2016.

Pre-requisites

This qualification is aimed at those over 16 who are able to undertake the responsibilities associated with being a first aider in an early years setting.

Candidates between 14-16 years can undertake the qualification, however they should not be relied upon by employers to be a sole first aider.

It is recommended that candidates have a minimum of Level 2 literacy and numeracy or equivalent.

Attendees will be required to demonstrate first aid procedures as they would in a real work environment. This includes providing CPR to a casualty who is on the floor, therefore be physically capable of doing so.

There are no other pre-requisites for this qualification.

This qualification has been developed to meet the first aid training requirements outlined by the EYFS.The course includes:

Assessment methods

Candidates are assessed for this qualification using the following methods:

  • Multiple-choice question paper
  • Practical observation

Multiple-Choice Question paper

Each candidate will be assessed for this qualification by the completion of a multiple-choice question paper. Candidates will be required to score a minimum of 66% correct answers to achieve a pass.

Practical observation

Candidates are required to demonstrate an ability to provide first aid to a range of casualties as they would in an emergency situation, therefore, candidates will need to be able to work on the floor; for example, as with CPR.

Regulated qualification Meets EYFS requirements

Certification

Upon completion of this course, students will receive a RQF certificate from QNUK. The qualification is Valid for 3 years. However a annual refresher is strongly recommended.

ACCEPTABLE FORMS OF I.D.

The list below outlines acceptable forms of identification for learners undertaking a regulated qualification with Qualifications Network.

Learners must provide at least 1 form of photo I.D. If photo I.D is not available, 2 forms of non- photographic I.D can be produced.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Unfortunately there are no more free parking facilities around the area as the councils have placed parking restrictions.

If you are travelling via car to the training location, then please be aware that you will require a parking permit. Kindly let us know in advance so that we can arrange a permit for your self.
