About this Event

This Level 3 Award in Supervising First Aid for Mental Health is an advanced Ofqual (RQF) certified course for mental health awareness in the workplace. This advanced, fully certified course provides an expanded knowledge of mental health conditions and potential treatments. This course is perfect for those with responsibility for putting into practice mental health awareness and support schemes in the workplace. Learning Objectives

  • An understanding of what mental health is and the remit of first aid for mental health.
  • An understanding of mental health conditions and signs and symptoms of the most common mental health conditions.
  • An understanding of depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, personality disorders, bipolar disorder, psychosis, anxiety, and schizophrenia.
  • Knowing how to provide advice on mental health signposting and the way to start a conversation about mental health with somebody you are concerned about.
  • An understanding of stress and anxiety and how to identify and signpost these needs in the workplace.
  • An understanding of drugs and alcohol and how to address cultural impacts at work on this and signpost to supports.
  • Know the First Aid for Mental Health Action Plan and how to use it to correctly support and signpost somebody in a mental health crisis.
  • An understanding of the function of First Aid for Mental Health at work and how to use this function effectively.

Duration and Attendance

  • This course takes 12-hours with our professional, fully qualified, and experienced trainers. This can be spread over two to three days for online learning.
  • It can be delivered in-house, online, or at one of our face-to-face sessions (subject to Covid-19 restrictions).
  • In-house and face-to-face sessions training is capped at 16 learners and online is capped at 12 learners for certification.

Certification

  • A range of methods are used to assess each candidate, including practicals and questioning (open and multiple-choice).
  • On successful completion of the course, learners will receive a Level 3 Award in Supervising First Aid for Mental Health, accredited by First Aid Awards and Ofqual.
