Event description
The Yorkshire and Humber PHE Centre would like to invite you to this symposium to hear about and discuss this new Apprenticeship standard

About this Event

The development of the Level 6 Public Health Practitioner Apprenticeship trailblazer standard commenced back in May 2017 with an exploring the possibilities workshop, fast forward to October 2019 and its now approved for delivery.

The time is right to look at how we can maximise the potential for this new Apprenticeship standard so we can help employers to address some of the key future workforce challenges we now have within an increasing integrated public health system.

We warmly welcome attendance from employers of staff working within the Public Health system including Local Authorities, NHS Health and Social Care, Commissioned Services and Voluntary Organisations.

We will be asking: How can the L6 Apprenticeship change how we recruit and develop new entrants and provide opportunities to others that work on the wider determinants of health?

We will be challenging:

  • Whether this standard can increase social mobility and support inclusive growth if we lowered entry and experience requirements
  • Whether this standard could support Apprentices to work across the system, for example across a range of council services where public health needs to influence i.e. transport, planning, child development, education, social care etc
  • Whether costs be shared with various departments and multiple organisations where Apprentices can work across the system
  • Whether this standard can up skill the wider public health workforce
