Level-Up: Still Life Photography for Young Creatives with Julie Howden

As part of the Art Collection at the University of Stirling's Art and Science programme , join photographer Julie Howden for a hands- on workshop exploring all things still life and product photography, using objects from the University's science collection!

Especially for the Stirling Photography Festival, Julie has created a playful still life photography workshop aimed at youths 14-21. This youth workshop is ideal for any aspiring photographers or content creators.

In this session we will support experimentation with composition and lighting and help develop an understanding of the significance of process and practice - including looking at chiaroscuro and key lighting, colour relationships, pattern, texture, and contrast.

While we will provide backgrounds and objects you are more than welcome to bring some items of personal interest to you.

By the end of the session hopefully you will have create a mini digital portfolio.

The workshop is suitable for photographers of all abilities - all cameras will work , including camera phones. If you have a tripod, please bring it along.

This event is designed for 14-21 years olds, children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

About Julie

Working as a photographer for over 20 years, Julie started out as a photojournalist working for newspapers and magazines and has been freelance for past ten years.

Julie works on a wide and varied set of photographic commissions, including product, arts, gallery, reportage and PR photography.

Julie is currently exhibiting work in the Universty of Stirling's Pathfoot Building, commissioned by the Art Collection as part of their Art and Science exhibition.
