Lewisham PVI SENCo Forum

Thursday 6th July  10.00am - 12.00pm

Civic Suite, Catford.

The forum is available to SENCos from all private, voluntary and independent early years’ settings in Lewisham and is free of charge.

The forum will be an informative and interactive session that will provide you with the opportunity to network with other SENCos.

 This session will focus on:

Disability Access Fund (DAF) & Disability Living Allowance (DLA)

From April 2017 providers will be able to access additional funding (separate to Inclusion Funding) to support children with disabilities or SEN.  Eligible settings will receive a payment of £615 per child to support providers in making reasonable adjustments to their settings.

3- and 4-year olds will be eligible for the DAF if they meet the following criteria:

  • The child is in receipt of child disability living allowance (DLA) and;
  • The child receives free early education.

Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for children may help with the extra costs of looking after a child who:

  • is under 16
  • has difficulties walking or needs more looking after than a child of the same age who doesn’t have a disability

Develop your knowledge of the DLA process and how you can support parents of eligible children to apply for it.

When a child is in receipt of DLA, providers can then access funding (DAF) that will support the child and the setting.

The session will be presented by EYMD and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP)

There will also be some time to ask questions and discuss key issues.

 If you are able to attend the forum please RSVP to

 Facilitator: Tiffany Gordon - Lewisham EYIT

South Thames Early Education Partnership and Teaching School Alliance. (STEEP)

STEEP- the South Thames Early Education Partnership;

Six South London, Nursery Schools and Children’s Centres, with a long history working with children and families.

We believe every child deserves the best possible start in life and support to fulfill their potential. A child’s experience in the early years has a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right, and provides the foundation for children to make the most of their own abilities and talents as they grow.
STEEP's mission is to support those working with young children and their families through the provision of a range of high quality professional development opportunities including:
  • Support and Training for Childminders,
  • Initial Teacher Education,
  • CPD for Early Years professionals in schools and settings.
