In September 2015 World Leaders committed to the Global Goals for Sustainable Development- 17 goals to achieve 3 extraordinary things by 2030. End extreme poverty. Fight inequality and injustice. Tackle climate change.
This workshop focuses on Sustainable Development Goal 13 Climate Action
A webinar for Scottish primary and secondary teachers of all subjects to increase your knowledge, skills and confidence to explore the climate crisis with learners. We will examine the current science around the state of the climate emergency and climate tipping points and explore possibilities for accelerating solutions. We will discuss the role of educators in the run up to the UN COP26 meeting in Glasgow in 2021, and share resources and activities to use with learners.
Biography of the trainer:
Owen Gaffney is a global sustainability analyst and writer and head of media at the Stockholm Resilience Centre. For almost two decades Gaffney has been involved in Earth system science research and communications. His work focuses on synthesising and assimilating knowledge on the state of the planet. He is interested in the Anthropocene, Earth system and social tipping points, governance, equality, technology and the changing flow of information in the world. Recent publications include an article on climate tipping points in the journal Nature, and an Exponential Roadmap of climate solutions.
