The last 12 months have taken an incredible toll on us all, and many of us are feeling exhausted. The recent announcement by the government that we could return to something which looks like normal life by the summer has given many of us hope. Pride events across the country have begun to announce 2021 dates, and loved ones are making plans to see each other once again.

The COVID-19 vaccination programme is a vital tool to get us to that point. Everyone should feel confident and able to access a vaccine safely. Our recent research shows that some LGBT people have specific concerns, and we want to make sure that you have the information you need to make an informed decision to access this lifesaving vaccine.

The Panel

Dr Michael Brady, National Advisor for LGBT Health, NHS England and NHS Improvement

Dr Brady was appointed as the National Advisor for LGBT Health at NHS England in April 2019. In this role Michael works across NHS England and NHS Improvement, with the Government Equalities Office and a wide range of stakeholders, partner organisations and the LGBT community to address health inequalities for LGBT patients and improve experience in the NHS.

Michael is also an HIV and Sexual Health consultant at Kings College Hospital in London and the Medical Director of the Terrence Higgins Trust.

Dr Luke Wookey, Clinical Lead for Indigo Gender Service, and GP Partner

Dr Wookey (he/him) is the Clinical Lead for Indigo Gender Service, a new pilot NHS adult gender service in Greater Manchester.

Luke also works as GP Partner and trainer at Fairfax Group Practice in Manchester. He has worked with the LGBT foundation since 2013 as a clinical champion promoting and supporting Pride in Practice, his practice was the first to achieve a gold award in Bury.

He is passionate about improving LGBTQI+ healthcare within NHS and has presented alongside the LGBT Foundation at the RCGP annual conference and the national NHS Expo.
