Description

Remembering 50 Years of the Nightingale

The Loft Lounge, 2-4:30pm, Saturday 23rd Feb, Free.

This informal event will look back over 50 years of the Nightingale, Birmingham’s first gay-bar.

Join us for a chance to look through archive posters, flyers, and photos of the Gale, and to share your memories and experiences of the iconic birmingham venue.

We are delighted to be joined on the day by Dr. Graham Beard, in conversation with SHOUT Festival Producer Adam Carver, to talk about the history of the bar from its beginnings in Camp Hill in 1969 to its current location on Kent Street and Graham’s time working as DJ for the Gale in the 70s.

Refreshments provided. This is a free event, please book in advance so we can plan for appropriate numbers.

This event is part of the Birmingham LGBT History Festival, for more information and to find the full line-up please click here.
