Explore Manchester’s world-famous Gay Village with Josh’s LGBT+ Manchester Walking Tour!
It’s a journey through iconic monuments, touching memorials, secret street art and legendary pubs to answer the question: "How did Manchester get so gay?"
We will share stories of Manchester’s Queer heroes of both the past and the present - from underground Victorian drag balls to a 'secret' gay language, to looking at how Queer activists changed and are changing the city, in the most surprising ways.
Josh has an MA degree specialising in Manchester’s LGBT+ history and continues to work professionally with LGBT+ oral histories.
He is also a native Mancunian, and founder of 'Free Manchester Walking Tours' back in 2015. At the end of each tour, Josh offers his list of insider recommendations tailored especially for LGBTQ+ visitors.
The Queer history and culture tour is also a great chance to connect with like-minded people from around the world - to make new friends whilst we dig into the atmosphere of Manchester’s LGBT+ heart and history.
The tour is a blend of history, heritage, culture and fun, perfect both of international visitors as well as locals to the city who are seeking an unforgettable afternoon.
