The re-launch event is an opportunity to: meet the refreshed LGBT+ Staff Community; recognise ways of collaborating with others across the university to understand, empower and celebrate our diverse community; and engage with the renewed strategy of the community.

The event will be hosted by Gem Ahmet and will open with a welcome message from the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jane Harrington.

Artistic showcase

Launching BIJOU STORIES – an arts participatory project with Paul Green of Avant-Gardening.

The project will use oral history, found footage and queer ephemera to paint a new picture of the LGBTQ+ community based on their lived experiences, memories and histories. We will be capturing and documenting these stories and inviting participants to work with LGBTQ+ artists to re-imagine them and create new artworks for an exhibition and live event. In this session, Paul Green introduces this new project and invites participants to begin to share stories in breakout rooms as a chance to get to know each other a little more and invite participants to become part of the wider project. Please note stories shared in this space will not be taken any further by the artists.
