About this event

Priority booking for email subscribers will start 16 May. General sale opens 19 May.

The National Archives and the Bishopsgate Institute Special Collections and Archives hold very different collections; one predominantly representing the state perspective and government departments; the other the voice of community and campaigning organisations – and yet both can add great value and insight into understanding the historic lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people.

In this event, Vicky Iglikowski-Broad from The National Archives and Stefan Dickers from Bishopsgate will explore the different strengths of their collections, to reflect on how they can be used together to build a fuller picture of LGBTQ+ lives. As well as an overview of both collections, Vicky and Stefan will be in conversation to answer some of your questions.

About the speakers

Vicky is Principal Records Specialist in Diverse Histories at The National Archives.

Stefan is the Special Collections and Archives Manager and has been responsible for the development of the Institute's collections on the history of London, protest and activism and LGBTQ+ Britain.
