This guided meditation group creates a unique space for LGBTQ+ people to foster friendship and practice meditation.

About this event

The sessions will feature a variety of mindfulness, loving-kindness and wisdom meditations. There’ll also be sharing & connecting, poetry and more. Through this, we’ll cultivate a warm awareness of our own experience and go beyond the individual to explore how we can grow and flourish as a community. There’ll also be the option to socialise in the cafe area after.

We’ll run sessions most Sundays, so you can choose to come on a regular or drop-in basis.

No prior meditation experience required. Also suitable for those who are trying to establish a regular practice within a supportive environment.

Sessions are free, with an optional donation towards establishing a permanent LGBTQ+ community centre. Please note that we are unable to refund donations.

During this session, the cafe will be closed.

About the organisers

Stevan is a community builder, social innovator, and student of Zen. He has practiced Buddhist meditation since 2016 and non-violent communication since 2019. Stevan has sat retreats with teachers from different schools but is undertaking Zen training in the Rinzai (Zendo Kyodan) tradition under Julian Daizan Skinner Roshi.

Polly is an artist living in a Buddhist community in east London. They have been practising meditation for 5 years and are training to be ordained as a Buddhist.

Andrew works in a think tank focused on economic inequality. Previously they spent some time in China working on LGBTQ+ rights. They have been meditating for 5 years and are enthusiastic about making meditative practices accessible to people of all backgrounds.

Some weeks, we will be joined by friends of the London Buddhist Centre to bring you a diverse style of meditation guidance.
