Event description

Description

We know very little about the use and experiences of using self-directed social care support by LGBTQI+ Disabled people. By this we mean LGBTQI+ Disabled people who are in charge of their own support and employ PAs/support workers. Are there tricky negotiations with the whole range of social care staff and providers when getting needs met that relate to sexual identity? Do LGBTQI+ Disabled people come out to their PAs? Do they come out when their needs are being assessed or reviewed? What kind of support are LGBTQI+ Disabled people getting or not getting from PAs to lead the kinds of lives they want to lead?

The launch event

This fully accessible event will share information about brand new research funded by the NIHR School for Social Care Research in England with Disabled LGBTQI+ people who use self-directed social care support. Find out about the research and come and view the short films we have made which focus on what people who took part in the research had to say.
