About this event
Open to 16-25 year old LGBTQIA+ people. A Saturday afternoon in great company, fresh sea air, a fresh new look and doing some good for the planet ... What more could you want?
Althought it's not a requirement to bring clothes to swap as we will be adding pieces to the rails to ensure a full range of size options. We do ask that if you have clothes to swap, please bring some along. See Ts + Cs below for more info :D
***ON THE DAY***
12 - 12:45pm - Drop off clothes at Cornerstone Community Centre, Hove (map below). Then, head down to meet us for the beach clean starting at 1pm. All the clothes get sorted and hung whilst you are on the beach.
1 - 2:30pm - Beach clean! Meet on the beach in front of Hove Lawns Cafe
We will brief everyone on safety and offer fun additional options, including recording the litter you collect and doing a mermaids purse hunt (that's hunting for shark and ray eggcases!). Whatever type of beach clean you chose, it will help keep our beaches clean and tidy! At 2:15, we will weigh up all the litter and compare unusual finds.
We will provide all equipment needed for a beach clean - we just need you to wear suitable footwear and clothing. We recommend bringing a bottle of water.
The beach can be accessed step free at Hove Lawns via a ramp.
2:30 - 4pm - Pre-loved swap shopping and hot drink at Cornerstone Community Centre
Everyone will get a clothes swap token.
We are operating the clothing swap in the spirit of sustainable fashion, fairness and inclusion. We will only separate clothes by size and type (e.g. jumpers/ trousers/ accessories). We will have a variety of sizes available.
If you do not own spare clothes, tell us when you sign up and we will put a few extra pieces on the rails to make sure there’s plenty to go around.
Allergies/ dietary requirements: we will be serving hot drinks at the clothes swap. Let us know if you have allergies or requirements when you sign up to this event. Everything served will be labelled.
