About this event

In Scotland, LGBTQIA+* people have worse mental health and think about and attempt suicide more than our heterosexual and cisgender (non-trans) peers.

One of the key barriers to research, development and policy change in Scotland is that we don’t have a way to bring these all together.

So, we’re holding a networking lunch at Glasgow Caledonian University to learn more about LGBTQIA+ mental health, network with like-minded folk and and work out how researchers, practitioners and LGBTQIA+ communities can work together to help our community – over a free lunch!

Each lunch will include two short research briefings with Dr Hazel Marzetti and Professor Jamie Frankis, then we will workshop how we can use this work to drive change.

Who should attend?

We want LGBTQIA+ community members, community groups and businesses from across Scotland, as well as academics, service providers, policymakers, to come along.

Is there funding available?

We can offer public transport expenses for community members and charity workers. We’ll also lay on tea, coffee and lunch for all participants. BSL interpretation is available is required.

These events will be a safe space for LGBTQIA+ folk with a zero tolerance attitude to hate speech and/or anti-LGBTQIA+ stigma.

*Lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, aromantic, non-binary and other sexual/gender minority folk
