This event to launch The new Higher Education Research Institute at The University of Lincoln will be formed from 2 sessions with a networking lunch in between.

The morning session will be an introduction to the unit, the work that we have been carrying out since our inception in January 2017 and research by colleagues across the University into contemporary issues in higher education research.

Schedule:

9.00 – Refreshments on arrival

9.30 – Introduction by Deputy Vice Chancellor Toby Wilkinson

9.45 – Overview of the Institute by Dr Karin Crawford, Head of LHERI

10.00 – Presentations of Projects supported by LHERI

Following each presentation there will be an opportunity for discussion and any questions.

The Intervention for Success Project – Ben Walker, Senior Lecturer

This project, funded by The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) will work to make effective use of data analytics and develop interventions which personal tutors can deploy to enable students to continue and succeed.

Developing Academic Leadership and Innovative Practice – Rebecca Sanderson, Organisational Development Advisor

An in-depth evaluative case study of pilot work to implement a personal and professional development scheme for academic programme leaders at the University of Lincoln. Led by the Human Resources Department and supported by LHERI

The National Collaborative Outreach Programme (NCOP) LiNCHigher Project – Dr Rob Vickers, Research Fellow

This HEFCE funded project collaborates with Bishop Grosseteste University and aims to increase aspirations amongst young people in specific identified areas

The Learning Gain Project – Dr Stephen Haddelsey, Project Manager

Also funded by HEFCE, The Learning Gain Project is informed by the 2015 Rand Report on Learning Gain in Higher Education and aims to evaluate means for measuring learning gain

11.40 – Information on other areas of work of the Lincoln Higher Education Research Institute – Dr Karin Crawford, Head of LHERI
