Event description
The dance of liberation is back at The Jago in Dalston with a guided movement meditation starting us off into the night.

About this Event

Welcome to libert_é.

_

We think that there is something so special about meeting strangers in the night and sharing the dance floor. Of coming together to unite and co-create through movement and music and to express our uniqueness through dance, just the way that we are. And so we open a portal to reconnect with ourselves and each other through the dance of liberation at The Jago in Dalston, Saturday 5th October. We invite you to join us for an immersive evening of dancing, being, accepting and flowing.

Doors open at 9pm. Goddess Francesca Filippa will take us through a guided movement meditation for an hour from 10pm, followed by more music from our other Goddesses: DJ Tess and J.Müller and dancing into the night…

Please arrive early if you would like to attend the movement meditation.

Francesca Filippa

Scottish Sicilian Singer-Songwriter Francesca Filippa is a London based artist, teacher of yoga and meditation and vocal confidence coach. One of her greatest gifts is to create ritual spaces of art from the heart for humans to experience their humble humanity and deep divinity. Francesca’s lifelong elixirs for emotional expression have always been music, movement, poetry, nature and the visual arts. The inclusive immersive experiences she crafts interweave all of these elements to co-create conscious containers for humans to come back to themselves in whatever way they choose.

Reflecting on dance as a modality Francesca feels that “it is not just a physical art form or only for performance - dance has many layers and can be used as a means of profound healing, release and self-expression. To dance is to stay, to stay in the heart and feel. The human body is a vortex and vessel of love, the heart is the last thing to leave, when we move our bodies it is a living prayer of all the passion and pain we have ever experienced. We are messy, we are all of it. May we own our All-ness and release our smallness. Freedom is remembering our divinity, owning our humanity and letting love in.”

J.Müller

South African born, London based artist, J.Müller illustrates her soul’s expression through the merging of creating music/songwriting, dancing, singing, DJing, and writing poetry. She made her solo debut last year with the single ‘I Surrender i’. This year she returned with another self-produced single, ‘Rebirth’ and a full book of poetry sketched out over the past three years called, ‘Peaceful Thoughts’.

“A caramel soft piece of songwriting where each word seems to slide effortlessly out of the speaker.” - Clash Magazine on her single ‘Rebirth’.

In 2015 she took to the decks, playing at venues in London, India and at Noisily Festival 2019. Her DJ sets take you to wonderland through a journey of house and techno electronic sounds mixed with 70s/80s funk and disco, hip-hop + rnb gems. On her DJ sets she explains, “I really want to make people feel, I think it’s so important in this world where we are taught not to. I like to take people on a journey through music, to transport them to a magical place where you can get in touch with the mystery of life.”

She started making music at the age of 17 by learning to play the drums and continues to create her own personal and versatile style influenced by bass music, grime, rap, dancehall, funky house, afro beats and hip-hop. Her DJ sets form an eclectic percussive, high energy and enticing soundscape.

She has collaborated with the BlackBox Crew, Marti Stone, Femme Culture, Keep Hush and has been featured as track of the month on the Redbull Radio show Normal Not Novelty.
