About the Library Lates

These evenings are part of our project, Tending to the Centres, a collaborative programme and series of site-specific installations that invites local communities to reimagine their relationship with three libraries in Richmond as part of this year's Richmond Arts & Ideas Festival. Since earlier this year, our project has included:

  • ‘Library Logs' workshops where local library goers imagine themselves as libraries: what experiences, memories, passions would you borrow and lend?
  • ‘Brief Making' workshops
  • 'Co-Design & Build' workshops

About Francesca Telling

An interactive installation, performance reading and discussion presented by artist and facilitator Francesca Telling, sharing her research into institutional memory and archives of erasure.

Fieldnotes from the subseries MALAYA (7225 - 7794) within FCO 141, Records of Former Colonial Administrations: Migrated Archives.

Drawing on time spent with Colonial Office records of Malaysia held by The National Archives in Kew, Richmond, this intervention will explore how storytelling can make sense of the silences found within diaspora archives and inherited histories – asking what happens when absence becomes a space for transformation, repair and agency.

You’ll be invited to respond with your own archives, narratives or intergenerational memories to explore these possibilities together.
