The Learning Spaces Special Interest group is delighted to host a show and tell event, to explore themes around conception, implementation and operation of different non-traditional library spaces. We know there is growing interest in this area, and many of us have already developed spaces; often centred around a well-being theme. This is an opportunity to gain insight into some of the challenges and strategies experienced. After the presentations, there will be a combined Q&A session. Participants will also be invited to share a line about spaces they’ve developed to enable follow-up conversations.

Sensory Spaces: Are you considering the needs of neurodivergent students in your library? Have you been asked to consider developing spaces or environments that help provide a sense of calm and comfort and improve focus? Explore with us the challenges and benefits of developing sensory spaces in the library at University of Warwick. Presenter: Liz Gardner, Head of Client Services (Acting), University of Warwick
Student Kitchen: At the University of Hull, students have been campaigning for a few years to access a microwave and hot water point within the Library spaces. Hear about our journey where student feedback helped inform the creation of a Student Kitchen space in the University of Hull Library. Presenter: Rachel Welch. Exhibition Space: We wanted to bring creating and communicating clearly into the Library and information literacy space. Located in Sheffield University’s Information Commons, we have piloted different ideas over the last year, many co-created with students to support the literacy of communicating by showcasing student outputs.
