Dorset Council is developing a new library strategy to inform how they develop and deliver our library services in the future. Open to adults who do not currently use the library service, this workshop aims to find out what the service can do to better meet the needs of Dorset’s communities. This is an exciting opportunity for you to attend a two-hour workshop where you can share your views and help to refine the new library strategy. This will be a hybrid workshop, so you can join in person at the Weymouth Library and Learning Centre in Weymouth, or you can join online from the comfort of your own home.

Background: The new Dorset Council Library strategy is being developed across two phases of public consultation. Phase one of the “Let’s Talk Libraries” consultation ran from October 2021- January 2022. Over 7,500 survey responses were received and a range of engagement workshops were held. Phase one Let’s Talk Libraries was designed to be an open conversation with our communities, employees and partners to understand what they value about the service and how it could develop to become relevant to those who do not currently use it.

By listening to communities’ views, a new draft library strategy has been developed, with the mission: “To Inspire, Connect and Enable our communities through our services”.

Who can attend: The sessions are open to all individuals over 18 who:

Have not used the Dorset Council library service in over three years
Live, work or have a connection with Dorset
Are NOT employees of Dorset Council.

You will then be sent a meeting invite with the room location (and a meeting link for if you prefer to join online) shortly before the workshop.
