Event description
Join lichenologists from Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh for a walk to discover lichens which are specially adapted to live on rocky shores.

About this Event

Join the Edinburgh Shoreline Project and staff from the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh for an exploration of lichens along the seashore.

We'll be walking from Cramond Promenade across to Cramond Island at low tide to discover more about the lichens that can be found in this coastal habitat. We will provide you with a hand lens so that you can see the lichens in exquisite detail, and a lichen guide - though our team will be on hand to hep you identify lichens too.

Please be aware that a considerable amount of walking is involved (it is 0.7 miles from Cramond Promenade to Cramond Island) so please wear suitable shoes and dress for the weather. Please bring a drink with you, and a snack if you need it.

We will meet at the beginning of the causeway out to Cramond Island (next to the tide times board) at 10 am, and anticipate this walk will last until around 12 or 12.30pm.

This event is now fully booked. To be added to our waiting list in case of cancellation please contact our Project Manager Charlotte Johnson on cjohnson@rbge.org.uk
