Thoughts on presence from your host Christina:

My favourite part of Lie Down and Listen experiences is the purity of ‘being’ - immersed in vibrations of sound, music and surrounded by beautiful souls who are courageous enough to experience something new.

It’s here that we share the awareness of the blissful present.

So many people say they want more presence. This isn’t surprising as the world is set up to reward those who never stop moving.

Consider the thought that you are more than enough just as you are.

Take a breath, even close your eyes to feel into this idea.

It takes stillness to notice how significant our presence is and to feel into the gifts that were there and will always be there - meanwhile we spend time searching, criticising and blaming ourselves for not being good enough, successful enough, important enough.

I believe this stillness is the most important part of our week.

It creates the moment needed to realise you are enough. Even if just for a moment, the richness and depth of this moment is significant and it can be felt by all the senses.

That’s why there are so many positive wellness benefits to mindfulness, meditation, sound meditation, classical music. It carries you into this state of fullness of being.

In a Lie down and Listen experience, there are often tears of emotional release, gratitude and some as listeners become in awe of being connected to something greater than themselves and all those things which on the surface appear to define us - our jobs, appearance, where we live, marital status etc just melt away into insignificance.

Time which is set aside for deep connection is far more valuable than weeks of busyness, frustration and forcing things to happen. In fact it’s in this space that we realise time isn’t what we think thought it is - it’s something that’s maluable according to the intention and focus we bring to the present.

I’m obsessed with the power of sound and sharing vibrations through traditional sound healing and the emotional resonance found in classical music.

These vibrations are powerful and transformative when created with the intention to bring you into the present moment to experience renewal, peace and bliss.

I can't wait to welcome you into this healing and restorative space - using powerful sound vibrations to shift our perspective and energy.

Founder and Classical Pianist Christina McMaster noticed that it wasn't only the rituals of classical music concert halls that led to a disconnected listening experience, but in daily life, we are experiencing more disconnection than ever, leading to loneliness, anxiety, stress, sense of emptiness etc. Lie down & Listen began after a chance meeting with Prof. Sir John Strang and a series of events at Kings College London to recreate the wellbeing benefits of a hallucinogenic experience without hallucinogenics- but simply using a certain combination of music in a lying down concert experience as they did in the 1960’s in downtown New York loft apartments where music of Philip Glass, Terry Riley, Steve Reich - also known as the New York Hypnotic School.

After training in sound healing, Christina then evolved the meditation, sound healing and lying down concert experience of today which creates space for deep relaxation and for listeners to reconnect within. The unique experience has been attracting wellness and culture curious since its official launch in 2018. Lie down and Listen has received media attention in the Financial Times, Radio 4 Front Row, Balance Magazine, OM Yoga Magazine, The Stylist, Pianist Magazine and has collaborated with leading wellness brands.

Lie down & Listen is a meditation, sound healing and a lying down classical music experience founded by Christina McMaster. These special events take place on soft mattresses in order to allow our bodies and mind to relax and engage with pure sound and creation.
