Online event

An interactive virtual careers fair where young people from across the UK can find out more about preparing for life after school.

About this event

Aimed at 14–19-year-olds, our large, interactive, virtual reality careers fair includes content which answers the following questions:

  • What opportunities are open to young people after they leave school or college – could it be university? An apprenticeship? Employment? Graduate training?
  • What skills, such as employability skills, will young people need to develop and how can they demonstrate these within applications, CVs, interviews, professional environments etc?
  • What support can young people draw on to ensure they are making an informed decision about their future?

Set in our online exhibition hall, over 20 exhibitors from across the UK, including Barclays, Health Education England, Skills Builder, Tech She Can, Institute of Food Science & Technology, the Met Office, TfL, GSK, Go Construct and Unilever, will provide free content for young people and highlight their available opportunities.

Schools can also be supported via this event to meet the Gatsby Benchmarks: -

  • allow students to learn about careers (#2)
  • link what they are studying to employers and the workplace (#4)
  • have encounters with employers, employees, and higher education institutions (#5 & #7)

The event is very flexible and can work as an educator-led session in front of a class or with young people accessing it individually, either would work fine.

Once the event is live, all anyone needs to access the fair is the event URL. This URL can be forwarded onto students or other interested parties and can be accessed at any time, 24 hours a day.

Visitors will have the chance to interact directly with exhibitors through a safeguarded, text-based live chat function active between 10-11am and 2-3pm each day.

A starter pack is available with small bios for the organisations taking part, ideas around questions for the live chat and group activities so you or your class can make the most of the fair.
