We hope the event will generate greater interest in, and knowledge of, some of the major changes in British society in recent years. The event is focused on issues of wealth, inequality and privacy and what is happening among sections of society that are often concealed from view (such as the very wealthy) or those who are subjected to intense scrutiny and interest (such as celebrities and politicians). It is hoped that the audience will learn more about these issues and understand more about the role of the social sciences in contributing to public debates about inclusion, inequality and politics today.
The panel comprises: Dr Ruth Penfold-Mounce, Lecturer at the University of York; Anna Minton, The Guardian; Dr Niall Cunningham, Durham University and Professor Sarah Blandy, University of Sheffield. Chaired by Professor Rowland Atkinson, University of Sheffield.
