About Studio Dot

Drawing from observation is the best way to develop your practice.

It's an amazing privilege for me to have been able to work with over a hundred artists to develop their observational drawing skills over the last 3 years at The Old Electric in Blackpool.

I'm grateful to all of them for showing me their absolute best selves and for bringing their individual creative energy to create a contemplative and inspirational environment. It's genuinely special when a group of people come together to draw together. Each of them has grown and developed as artists and its truly cosmic to have been part of it.

At the Life Drawing workshops I try to establish a meditative environment where we can all learn from each other through our examination of the human condition. I've included some of my own life drawing work on this page so that you can see my journey (I'm on a journey too!), and hopefully be inspired to start your own.

Drawing is never just drawing.

Drawing of all kinds is the search for truth. It's the uncovering of true self. It's acceptance that errors and mistakes are part of the creative process and part of what it means to be human. It's resilience in the way we examine our work and improve it. It's confidence, expression and power, even when the proportions aren't correct!

Life drawing for me, is the purest expression of the human condition and I want to invite you, whatever your ability level, to find your true self through drawing.
