A life drawing class that challenges what it means to "draw what you see", inspired by author bell hooks.
About this event
As part of Sarabande’s programme for International Women’s Day 2020, artist-in-residence Shannon Bono will hold a non-traditional life drawing class for those who want to look away from the conventional ways of seeing blackness and ourselves.
With black woman model(s), the class will take inspiration from the book ‘Black Looks, Race and Representation’ by bell hooks, taking sections of the text and using traditional life drawing techniques to transform the image, change perspectives and understand the power in looking.
