✏️ About Stephanie Fuller — Artist and Life Drawing Tutor
Stephanie Fuller is a British–Australian multidisciplinary artist and experienced drawing tutor with a background spanning fine art, sculpture, and design. She trained in London during the 1980s, studying drawing under Roy Oxlade, John Lessore, and John Wonnicott — three of Britain’s leading post-war figurative artists and teachers, each deeply rooted in the traditions of the Euston Road School and Bauhaus observational drawing methods.
From these foundations, Stephanie developed a rigorous understanding of drawing from life: seeing through structure, tone, and rhythm rather than surface appearance. Her approach encourages each student to draw what they truly see, not what they think they see — freeing their hand and eye to work in harmony.
Stephanie later taught drawing at the National Art School in Sydney, where she led studio classes in life drawing, composition, and observation. Her teaching combined technical precision with expressive confidence, nurturing students’ individual visual languages.
Now based in Deal, Kent, she continues to teach in her gallery studio, drawing on decades of professional practice across painting, sculpture, and digital media. Her work has been exhibited internationally — in the UK, Australia, and California — and her teaching emphasises the essential role of drawing as the foundation of all visual art.
Stephanie’s life drawing classes are known for their clarity, encouragement, and depth of insight. She helps each participant, whether beginner or advanced, to understand the principles of proportion, gesture, and spatial awareness, while also developing personal expression and confidence in mark-making.
Her philosophy is simple:
“Drawing from life is the artist’s way of understanding the world — it teaches us to look deeply, to translate movement and emotion into form, and to find freedom in the act of seeing.”
